How Google Made Me Create My Website

Have you ever googled yourself? Ever googled someone else? Ever googled me?

Chances are that you have done at least one of the above and I've done all three. The problem is that the results are almost always disappointing in that they fail to give you a complete overview of the person you're interested in. If you google my name you come up with some Ruby mailing lists, a few ancient news articles and some ad pages. Sprinkled in are some decent links that give you a narrow window into my life.

Of course, I could just use a social networking app (and I do) but Facebook is really for friends, LinkedIn is for work and none of them are "Ian Serlin" — and that's what I was searching for!

So this website is for you: my family, my friends, my colleagues, the potential recruiter (crosses fingers) or the wayward surfer. Whether you want to know more about what I'm up to generally, check out my newest photos, watch my silly cooking show, review my resume or some of the more interesting work I've done, hopefully you will come away with a better understanding of who "Ian Serlin" is as a person.
